The Jurupa Community Services District has announced the winners of its “Water is Life” poster contest.

The contest encourages students to create artwork that celebrates the importance of water in people’s lives, according to a news release from the district, which received 400 submissions.

The winners are as follows:

Grand Prize:

Mariah Rosario – Roosevelt High School
Emily Mota – Glen Avon Elementary School

Honorable Mention:

Justin Dobyns – Mira Loma Middle School
Jackie Peng – River Heights Elementary School

Jacob Lafferty – Camino Real Elementary
Jenna Piper – Camino Real Elementary
Community Choice Award, selected by residents:

Margaret Rosario – Roosevelt High School
Maria Hernandez – Glen Avon Elementary School

The news release says the eight students received prizes ranging from movie tickets to a miniature iPad. Their teachers were awarded gift cards to a school supply store.

The grand prize winners move onto the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s “Water Is Life” contest. The winning artwork of that competition will be included in a 2018 calendar.
