USC update: The Trojans suffered their first loss on Friday night, when they stumbled in the final minutes at Washington State, leaving with a 30-27 defeat. It was the fourth time in five games of this season, and the fifth time in the last six games including the Rose Bowl, that USC was tied or trailing in the fourth quarter. This time, it couldn’t prevail, and its 13-game winning streak ended. … USC’s offense struggled against Washington State, held to 327 total yards and often stopped on third down, where it converted just two of 11 attempts. … Injuries have taken a toll on the Trojans, who were missing three starters on their offensive line, including left tackle Toa Lobendahn (skin infection), right tackle Chuma Edoga (ankle) and right guard Viane Talamaivao (pectoral). Starting receivers Steven Mitchell (groin) and Jalen Greene (concussion protocol) were also sidelined, along with tight end and pass catching threat Daniel Imatorbhebhe (hip flexor strain) who hasn’t played since the season opener.
