Shaun White adds another gold medal to his arsenal!

White headed into the finals on top after dropping an incredible qualifying run with the score of a near-perfect 98.50, but he still faced heavy competition (it is the Olympics after all). White started off his finals performance with an impressive first run that earned him a score of 94.25.

However, in his second run Japanese snowboarder Ayumu Hirano scored an incredible 95.25, edging out White.

It was all up to White’s third and final run to decided whether he went home with gold or silver. And the Olympian did not disappoint.

White laid down an incredible run and earned the gold medal-winning score of 97.95. This gold medal is not only White’s third in the men’s snowboard halfpipe event, but also Team USA’s 100th gold medal in Winter Olympics history.
