USC moved up six spots to No. 11 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings released by the selection committee on Tuesday evening.

The Trojans, who are 8-2 overall, debuted at No. 17 in the first rankings last week. After a 49-35 win over Arizona, they surpassed a variety of teams, including Ohio State and Penn State. Both Big Ten programs suffered their second losses last weekend.

The highest-ranked two-loss team is Auburn, which is just ahead of USC at No. 10.

No two-loss team has ever made the four-team playoff since the format was instituted in 2014.

USC, which is also No. 15 in the AP poll and No. 14 coaches’ poll, is at Colorado on Saturday.
