The iconic psychological horror film “The Shining” will finally make its debut as an attraction at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights this haunting season.

The novel, which was originally penned in 1977 by Stephen King and four years turned into an acclaimed feature film directed by Stanley Kubrick, will be brought to life by the creative minds behind Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights. The disturbingly authentic maze experience will include some of the film’s most popular scenes and send guests through the halls of the Overlook Hotel.

Along the journey, they’ll learn about the history of murder and madness and bare witness to caretaker Jack Torrance’s downward spiral into insanity as they attempt to shake the ghosts that await to scare behind every twist and turn.

For more than two decades, horror fans have flocked to Universal Studios Hollywood and Orlando to experience what it’s like to be thrust into a real life horror film. Throughout the years the parks have created attractions based on classic horror and slasher films like “The Exorcist,” “Texas Chain Saw Massacre,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Friday the 13th” as well as cult-favorites such as Rob Zombie’s “House of 1000 Corpses” and “Krampus.”

Halloween Horror Nights has even partnered with huge horror-themed music acts like Zombie, Alice Cooper, Slash and Black Sabbath to create creepy and unique experiences based on their respective catalogs. Its wildly popular annual attractions based on “The Walking Dead” was turned into a permanent attraction last summer.

More mazes and details will be revealed in the coming months via HalloweenHorrorNights.com.
