UCR women’s basketball battles, eventually falls to UCLA

UC Riverside women’s basketball fell to UC Los Angeles 68-48 in a non-conference game at the Pauley Pavilion. Senior guard Michelle Curry scored a team-high 15 points for the Highlanders.
After a 7-0 UCR run made it 9-7 midway through the first, the Bruins closed the opening half on a 25-10 run, taking a 34-17 lead into halftime.
Jannon Otto finished with four points and a season-high nine rebounds. Her previous season-high in boards had been five, a mark she reached before the halftime break at UCLA.
Clémence Lefebvre tallied season-highs of nine points (3-4 FG) and three assists off the bench. Lauren Holt added seven points and two steals.
Marina Ewodo had three assists, making it three straight appearances with three or more helpers. Skyler Lewis also set a new season-high with three assists.
The loss puts the Highlanders at 1-5 on the season as they look toward the Arizona State University Classic where they will face The University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
