Two killed in overturned vehicle freeway crash in Murrieta

Two fatalities from an overturned vehicle crash on the 215 Freeway in Murrieta on Saturday night, Jan. 6, have been identified, according to a Riverside County Sheriff/Coroner’s news release.

The victims are Genevieve Hines, 21, of Menifee and Cade Deardorff, 20, of Murrieta, according to a coroner’s release on Sunday, Jan. 7.

The crash was reported on the southbound freeway about 1/2 mile south of Baxter Road at 8:52 p.m. Deardorff was pronounced dead at 9:07 p.m. and Hines at 9:08 p.m., both at the scene.

Officers with the California Highway Patrol station in Temecula are investigating the crash.

An initial traffic incident log noted that a vehicle overturned on its roof, and all lanes were blocked by debris for a time. A SigAlert was called after the crash and lifted by 11:30 p.m.
