Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies have identified three males, and arrested two of them, in a Dec. 23 break-in of an Eastvale home owned by a Pomona police officer who subsequently fired at them, according to a sheriff’s news release issued Tuesday, Feb. 13.
Deputies served two search warrants in Eastvale and Perris on Feb. 7. Destin J-Brent, 18, of Eastvale, and a 15-year-old juvenile, who was not identified because of his age, were arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and conspiracy.
J-Brent remains in custody at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. Bail is set at $50,000, according to jail records. No information was immediately available about the third identified suspect.
Deputies released a series of surveillance photos last month of three suspects who investigators say broke into the police officer’s home in the 6400 block of Caxton Street.
Two residents in the home heard people in the home and the off-duty officer confronted two of them upstairs and, fearing for his life, fired several times at one of them, officials said at the time.
