Train strikes person on tracks in Corona, Metrolink trains delayed
By Alex Groves
A person was killed after walking out in front of a BNSF train in Corona on Saturday morning, July 22, and some train routes were affected, according to initial reports.
The incident was reported a little after 6:30 a.m. on the tracks near Joy Street, said BNSF spokeswoman Lena Kent. The area is not far from the North Main Corona station located at 250 E. Blaine Street.
Kent said there was no crossing in the area where the person walked out.
BNSF workers were waiting on the coroner to arrive a little after 8 a.m., she said.
The incident prompted the delay of Metrolink’s IEOC Line 857 to Oceanside and 91/PV Line 751 to Los Angeles, which was holding at the downtown station in Riverside.
