Ten Inland teams headed to the CIF State girls volleyball playoffs

Ten Inland teams will be playing in the CIF State girls volleyball tournament, but only two of the teams open the state playoffs Wednesday with a home match.

Santiago, the Southern Section’s Division 2 runner-up, is seeded eighth in the Division 1 state regional bracket. The Sharks host La Jolla Country, which lost in the opening round of the San Diego Section’s Open Division playoff bracket.

Carnegie, the Southern Section’s Division 10 champion, is the No. 4 seed in the Division 5 state regional bracket. The Wolverines host Sierra Vista of Hanford, which was the Central Section’s Division 5 runner-up.

Ambassador League teams represents 25 percent of the Division 3 state bracket, but all four of the league’s teams will have to hit the road Wednesday night.

Loma Linda Academy, the Southern Section’s Division 6 champion, is only seeded 10th for the state playoffs. The Roadrunners will travel to San Marcos, which won the San Diego Section’s Division 2 championship.

Notre Dame, the Southern Section’s Division 6 runner up, was seeded 11th in the Division 3 state regional bracket. The Titans will travel to Poway, which was a semifinalist in the San Diego Section’s Division 1 playoffs.

Ontario Christian, a semifinalist in the Southern Section’s Division 6 playoffs, is seeded 15th for the regionals. The Knights travel to No. 2 Santa Fe Springs St. Paul, which won the Southern Section’s Division 5 championship.

Aquinas, also a Southern Section Division 6 semifinalist, is the No. 16 seed in the Division 3 regionals. The Falcons will travel to No. 1 San Diego Point Loma, which was a semifinalist in the San Diego Section’s Division 1 playoffs.

Colony, which reached the semis in the Southern Section’s Division 7 playoffs, is seeded ninth for the Division 4 state regionals. The Titans will travel to Reedley Immanuel, which won the […]
