Teen taken to hospital after being struck in Mentone

A teen boy was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center after he was struck by a vehicle in Mentone on Wednesday morning, according to San Bernardino County fire and California Highway Patrol reports.

The boy, whose exact age was not given, was struck near Nice and Beryl avenues in Mentone around 7:15 a.m., according to the CHP incident log.

Paramedics took the boy to the hospital with “trauma,” said Eric Sherwin, spokesman for the fire department; however, the full extent of his injuries were not clear.

The driver of the gray Hyundai Sonata that hit the boy remained at the scene with school police officers, according to CHP reports.

The incident is under investigation.
