Swastika painted on wall during ‘random’ graffiti spree in Cathedral City, police say
Police are trying to determine who’s responsible for a “random” graffiti spree over the weekend in a Cathedral City residential neighborhood, which included a swastika spray-painted on a block wall.
Several vehicles and block walls in the 27800 block of Avenida Maravilla were found covered in blue and red spray paint Sunday morning, according to Cmdr. Julio Luna. The street is off Vista Chino, near Date Palm Drive.
Police say the tagging was likely done overnight. Luna said the vandalism was “random, with no specific individual being targeted,” and despite the presence of the swastika, was not being investigated as a hate crime.
Much of the graffiti was quickly covered over.
Police asked anyone with information to call officers at 760-770-0300.
