Riverside County sheriff’s detectives are searching for the person who fatally wounded a man who was found inside a Mead Valley home late Tuesday morning.

Just after 11:30 a.m., deputies from the sheriff’s Perris station were called to a home in the 20000 block of Gaston Road in Mead Valley for a report of a shooting, according to a sheriff’s news release.

Deputies found an unidentified wounded man and tried to keep the man alive until paramedics arrived. Soon after, he was pronounced dead, officials said.

Deputies called in the sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit to take over the investigation.

A motive has not been released. A description of a shooter also wasn’t available Wednesday morning.

Officials ask anyone with information to call the Perris Station at 951-210-1000 or the Central Homicide Unit at 951-955-2777.
