A motorcyclist riding on Highway 38 roadway near Barton Flats on Sunday afternoon crashed and ended up about 100 feet below the roadway, where he had to be rescued by a sheriff’s helicopter crew.
Robert Brough, 48, of Riverside, suffered major but non-life-threatening injuries, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
After the 12:35 p.m. crash, members of the sheriff’s San Gorgonio Search and Rescue Team climbed down to the victim to assess his injuries, but were unable to carry him out because of the steep terrain, the release said.
A sheriff’s helicopter was called out, and two sheriff’s rescue medics were lowered down to help. The victim was hoisted into the helicopter, then flown to the hospital.
