Senior fatally hit by Metrolink train in Baldwin Park
A man crossing the railroad tracks died after he was hit by a Metrolink train in Baldwin Park, stopping the San Bernardino line to Los Angeles just before noon Tuesday.
The coroner’s office has not identified the man.
It happened at Ramona Boulevard and Downing Avenue at 11:06 a.m.
Baldwin Park police Lt. Chris Kuberry said an elderly man was walking westbound on Ramona Boulevard when a Los Angeles-bound train struck him.
Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Randall Wright said firefighters pronounced the person dead at the scene.
Metrolink spokesman Mike Atchue said nobody on the train was injured. San Bernardino Line 321 carried 175 passengers, he said.
Atchue said the passengers got off at the Baldwin Park station. Buses were made available to ferry them to Los Angeles.
The tracks between the Baldwin Park and Covina stations were closed because of the accident.
