The incident occurred early Wednesday morning near the 600 block of 20th Street. A sheriff’s helicopter was on patrol in a San Bernardino neighborhood when the crew’s vision was struck several times by a purple laser, a sheriff’s news release said. The crew was able to find the source of the light ray, pinpointing a person in his backyard.

San Bernardino police officers were alerted to the residence and interviewed a male and female. They ruled out the female, identified Flora as the suspect and arrested him, the release said.
