A Hemet man was arrested on allegations of throwing rocks at a fire truck Friday, Sept. 29, according to the Hemet Police Department.
A Hemet Fire Department engineer called dispatch around 10:30 a.m. to say a man threw rocks at his truck near the intersection of Buena Vista Street and Latham Avenue, not far from the Hemet police station.
The firefighter described the suspect and a man matching that description was stopped by police a short time later at 100 North Carmelita St., police said.
The suspect was identified as Jermain Middleton, 38, who has a history of throwing rocks at passing vehicles in Hemet, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of vandalism and taken to county jail with bail set at $10,000, police said.
The fire truck sustained more than $1,500 in damage, police said.
