Road rage shooting, fist fight, stabbing prompts SigAlert on 10 Freeway in Colton
A suspected road rage shooting reported on the I-10 ended at an off-ramp in Colton prompting a SigAlert Tuesday while police investigated.
The shooting was reported around 4:15 p.m. on the eastbound 10 in Fontana, Colton Police Sgt. Ray Mendez said.
“The victim was struck in the upper torso,” Mendez said.
The two cars then collided, disabling both vehicles. One ended up in the middle of lanes while the other ended up on the embankment of the Mt. Vernon Avenue off-ramp.
The two men began fist fighting on the off-ramp when the shooting victim pulled out a knife and stabbed the suspected shooter, police reported.
One man was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton while the other was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Both men were wheeled into surgery. Their condition was not immediately known.
Two lanes had been shut down as detectives collected evidence, backing up traffic for miles. The lanes were reopened after a few hours.
