Riverside woman celebrates 100th birthday

Connie Rangel’s 100th birthday is Monday, July 17.
Rangel, who grew up in Riverside, is a resident of the local Valencia Gardens Health Care Center.
Rangel was born in Corona on July 17, 1917. Her parents were Antonio and Bernave Vasquez.
She moved to the Coachella Valley with her parents to work in the fields. After her father’s death in 1930, she moved to Riverside with her mother and five sisters.
Rangel married Melchor Rangel when she was 18. They had two daughters.
Connie Rangel was a citrus packer for various packing companies in Riverside until her retirement at age 65.
Rangel is a grandmother and great-grandmother.
