Riverside walk-a-thon to tackle student hunger
By Staff report
A walk-a-thon set from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 at La Sierra High School in Riverside will benefit a Alvord Unified School District program that fights student hunger.
Alvord Cares was created to provide weekend food and occasional emergency shelter to help meet students’ basic needs and ensure that they arrive at school ready to learn. The weekend food packs contain non-perishable healthy meals and snacks such as oatmeal, applesauce and canned soup.
The event will collect food and money for the program. About 40 vendors will also be on hand.
The school is at 4145 La Sierra Ave.
