A La Sierra High student showed off a gun in class on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and video of the incident was posted on social media, Riverside police said.

Police searched the student’s home and did not find any weapons, Sgt. Dan Russell said. The student was still being sought as of about 4:30 p.m.

No one was injured, Russell said. The student did not threaten anyone with the gun, he said. Police have not determined what kind of gun it was, or whether it was a real gun.

Russell did not say on where the video was posted.

A student who witnessed the incident walked home after classes were dismissed on an early release day and reported it to his parents. The parents then called police, who later viewed the video, Russell said.

Alvord Unified School District sent an automated telephone message about the incident to parents, spokeswoman Cynthia Shipley said.
