Riverside man arrested in fatal weekend stabbing

Police on Wednesday arrested a 32-year-old Riverside man on suspicion of a fatal stabbing in front of a Riverside home early Saturday, July 22, officials say.

Frank Miguel Tornel was arrested on suspicion of murder in the slaying of 35-year-old Louis Lopez, according to a Riverside police news release. He was booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.

About 12:36 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of the stabbing in the 6000 block of Elenor Street and found Lopez suffering a stab wound in the front yard, police say. Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene, they say.

Tornel was taken into custody without incident in Corona, according to the release. Details of the arrest were not included.
