Riverside Fire Department’s hazardous materials team donned protective clothing to investigate two illegally dumped 35-gallon drums on private property in the 10600 block of Magnolia Avenue Thursday, July 20, according to a fire news release.

The team tested the unknown substances in the drums and determined the contents to be used motor oil, a parts cleaner along with cornstarch, the release stated.

The suspicious drums were reported at 8:15 a.m. and the team had completed the assignment by 12:38 p.m. Fire officials will work with the property owner on disposal of the chemicals.

No injuries were reported.
