Rialto girl, 17, dies after Friday night San Jacinto crash
SAN JACINTO >> A 17-year-old Rialto girl died early Saturday following a late Friday night two-car collision here, the Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau reported Saturday night.
Denise Canez was a passenger in a Toyota Sienna that was traveling north on Lyon Avenue and was hit by a Honda Accord that was traveling west on Romona Boulevard, according to separate coroner’s and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reports.
“The Honda Accord was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the posted stop sign, striking the Toyota Sienna in the intersection,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report said.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision, and the investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s report said.
Canez was pronounced dead at 12:54 a.m. Saturday at Hemet Valley Medical Center. The accident occurred at 11:52 p.m. Friday, the coroner’s report said.
All of the occupants in both vehicles were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries, the sheriff’s report said, but it wasn’t immediately known how many people were in the vehicles.
