When the Redlands High boys swimming team opened the season with a runner-up finish among some of the top teams in the region at the Mission Viejo Invitational, it was merely a sign of even bigger things to come in the Terriers’ second season under Coach Austin Brown.

Redlands’ boys would go on to win the Citrus Belt League dual-meet title, haul in a slew of league individual titles and make a strong impression at other invitationals, as when the Terriers won the Palm Springs Invite in April.

The Terriers’ momentum carried them to a third-place finish at the CIF-SS Division 2 finals May 11 at Riverside City College. And even that doesn’t tell the whole story, as the Terriers flirted with winning the title, entering the final relay in third place.

The 200-medley relay team won the Division 2 title and competed at the CIF State meet on May 19-20 in Clovis.

“It was a phenomenal season,” Brown said. “From winning the Citrus Belt League to taking third at CIF to having success at state, it was just an unbelievable season and I’m so fortunate to have such a great coaching staff and such a great group of athletes.”
