A Rancho Cucamonga man was arrested Sunday, June 18, in the fatal shooting of a man at a family party Friday in Pomona.
Timothy James McKinney, 19, was booked into jail Sunday afternoon on suspicion of murder, Los Angeles County jail records show. His bail is set at $2 million.
Pomona police officials on Saturday said that the shooting occurred after a fight broke out about 11:45 p.m. Friday at a party near the corner of McKinley and Towne avenues.
Joseph Ellis Aguilar, 23, who lived at the house where the party was, was shot. Paramedics took him to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he died shortly after arriving, authorities said.
After investigating the shooting, detectives tied McKinney to the shooting. On Sunday afternoon, Pomona Police Department’s SWAT team — with the help of other law enforcement agencies — served a search warrant in the 9000 block of Shadowbrook Drive, according to a news release issued Sunday. That’s where McKinney was arrested.
