Pomona police investigate Saturday night stabbing

POMONA — The Pomona Police Department investigated the stabbing of a man in his early 40s at Ralph Welch Park on Saturday evening.

It was believed the victim did not receive life-threatening wounds in the 7:30 p.m. incident, Pomona police said in a statement.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he was listed in stable condition, the statement said.

The victim told officers that the attack was unprovoked, said Pomona Sgt. Alyssa Bostrom.

“He said he was walking and a man attacked him,” she said.

Detailed information on the suspect wasn’t immediately available.
