Police are investigating an allegation that a Beaumont High School staff member punched a student who attends the school, after being given a copy of a video that purports to show the incident, according to a police news release.

“We would also ask that if any other students feel that they may have been victimized” to contact police, the news release stated.

The Beaumont Unified School District identified the staff member as a high school teacher who was put on administrative leave Oct. 3 as soon as district administration was informed of the allegation of misconduct, district spokewoman Francinni Zabata said in a written statement.

The district “takes reports of teacher misconduct very seriously” and is working with police on the investigation, Zabata wrote.

Neither the teacher, nor the student who is a juvenile, were identified by name. No arrests have been made.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have additional information to contact Beaumont police at 951-769-8500.
