Person struck by Metrolink train in Ontario; several lines canceled, delayed

A person was struck by a Metrolink train Monday afternoon in Ontario, authorities say.

It’s unclear what the extent of the victim’s injuries are; Ontario police, who are responding to the incident, have been unavailable for comment.

Metrolink tweeted at 2:45 p.m. that a train on Riverside line 402 to downtown Riverside hit a person on the tracks between the East Ontario and Pedley stations.

The tracks remained closed as of 4 p.m.

Buses were sent to pick up line 402 passengers. The incident affected other lines, as well, according to Metrolink’s Twitter updates:

  • RIV line 408 to downtown Riverside was canceled; passengers were advised to take line 410 instead.
  • RIV line 411 to Los Angeles was canceled and buses were being provided.
  • RIV line 404 to downtown Riverside was being held at the downtown Pomona station.
  • IEOC line 804 was running about an hour behind schedule.
