Perris’ mayor, council members could face term limits
By David Downey
Perris may establish term limits for its elected mayor and council members.
After a committee spent the last year examining options, the Perris City Council is preparing to review the panel’s report and discuss whether to pursue term limits at its Tuesday, Feb. 13, meeting.
The panel considered several variations on limits, including, two consecutive terms with a mandatory two-year break following the second term; two consecutive terms with a mandatory four-year break; three consecutive terms with a mandatory four-year break; and an absolute limit of three terms.
Also on the agenda is a resolution that would restart a stalled construction project to build a bicycle-and-pedestrian trail along the Perris Valley Storm Drain channel.
The 6:30 p.m. meeting is in the City Council Chambers, 101 N. D St., Perris.
