Ontario Reign ignite in third to defeat Eisbären Berlin

The Ontario Reign scored three goals in the third en route to a 6-3 victory over the Eisbären Berlin in an American Hockey League game Tuesday at the Citizens Business Bank Arena.
The Reign’s Michael Mersch scored the first goal of the game with 1 minute, 46 seconds into the first period. Matt Luff and Matt Moulson assisted.
Although Berlin fired back with a goal of their own less than seven minutes later, Sean Walker made it 2-1 Regin off an assist from Philippe Maillet and Bokondji Imama at 13:54.
Maillet, who led the Reign, scored just 57 seconds into the second period with help from Brett Sutter and Walker.
Berlin’s Martin Buchwieser put them within one at 6:40 in the second. However, Ontario went off in the third where they gained a 6-2 lead within a span of less than five minutes.
Justin Auger scored Ontario’s first of three goals at 12:15 with assists from Matt Roy and Mersch.
Moulson followed with a goal at 14:56 as Sutter and Luff assisted. T.J. Hensick made it 6-2 with a goal 15:24 into the third. He was assisted by Mersch and Alex Lintuniemi.
Eisbaren’s final goal of the game came at 17:18 into the third.
Mersch, Sutter and Luff finished with two assists each.
Reign goalkeeper Cal Peterson had 24 saves.
