Ontario man arrested in fatal stabbing of relative

An Ontario man is in jail after being accused of fatally stabbing a family member in Ontario on Wednesday, Feb. 7, police said.

Jonathan Rodriguez, 23, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, according to jail records. No bail has been set.

Rodriguez is accused of stabbing 25-year-old Bernardo Vasquez, of Rialto, an Ontario police news release said. Officers received a call of a stabbing on the 900 block of E. Deodar Street just before 6 p.m.

The found Vasquez suffering from multiple stab wounds, the release said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Witnesses reported to the officers that Rodriguez has fled the scene, the release said. He was later found by Claremont police officers who had responded to a report of a suspicious person. Rodriguez told the officers he had been involved in an incident in Ontario, the release said.

Claremont police contacted Ontario police and Rodriguez was taken into custody, the release said.
