An Ontario man arrested after he reportedly told police he had accidentally shot his mother pleaded not guilty to murder charges Wednesday, court records show.

Erick Bolin, 28, was arrested Christmas after Ontario police concluded he fatally shot his mother, Sheree Lynn Bolin, 58, of Ontario. The son was in West Valley Superior court in Rancho Cucamonga to enter his not guilty plea, records indicate.

Erick Bolin called police to the home he and his mother shared in the 1300 block of North Vine Avenue Monday afternoon to say he shot his mother, police said.

Sheree Lynn Bolin was pronounced dead at the home where a firearm was also recovered, police said.

No motive in the killing has been released by authorities though Erick Bolin initially told investigators the fatal shooting was an accident.

He is being held at West Valley Detention Center on $1.75 million bail and is next expected to appear in court on Wednesday, Jan. 3.
