Discount grocer Aldi is going New York hipster with California wine.

The Chicago area chain is partnering with East Coast artist Timothy Goodman to design the labels for three varietals from Monterey County.

Goodman specializes in murals that combine words and images to tell a story, which is what he does for the wines, which are William Wright Reserve, near Salinas.

They are Chardonnay, a Cabernet Sauvignon, and a red wine blend that will sell for $9.99 nationwide beginning Dec. 13, according to a news release.

Inland Aldi stores stock a variety of California wines, including South Coast Winery from Temecula Valley.
