Northbound Sanderson Avenue reopens north of San Jacinto after vehicle crash
By Gail Wesson
Northbound Sanderson Avenue has reopened with traffic moving smoothly Wednesday night, Jan. 3 north of San Jacinto, following a three-vehicle crash, according to a CalTrans traffic map.
A California Highway Patrol incident log changed the description of the crash to minor injury just before 9 p.m. A Riverside County Sheriff’s tweet initially described it two hours earlier as a major injury collision.
The crash on a route designated as Highway 79 added to traffic backups caused by a nearby death investigation from this morning in San Jacinto.
At least three vehicles collided shortly after 6 p.m., according to the CHP incident log.
Ramona Expressway from Sanderson Avenue west to Bridge Street and Warren Road from the expressway south to about Cottonwood Avenue, both in San Jacinto, remain closed as of 9 p.m. while sheriff’s homicide investigators examine the scene where two people were found dead Wednesday morning in a vehicle, possibly in a shooting.
