NFL preview: Buffalo Bills at New York Jets, Thursday night
By Ryan Kartje
BUFFALO (5-2) AT NEW YORK JETS (3-5)
Kickoff: Thursday, 5:25 p.m.
Outlook: In a season of bizarre twists, Josh McCown’s performance as the Jets starting quarterback has been bizarrely passable. McCown has thrown for multiple touchdowns in four straight games, and now, he’s set to face a Bills defense that has regressed against the pass over its past three games. While also bizarrely sitting at 5-2, just a game behind the Patriots, the Bills defense has shown its cracks in recent weeks. Its allowed 342 yards per game through the air during that stretch. But the Bills still haven’t trailed a single time by more than one score this season, and with their offense finally finding a rhythm on the ground, this game should be similarly close.
Player to watch: LeSean McCoy, RB. When the Bills can successfully lean on their workhorse running back, they can be a dangerous team. They should have that chance against the Jets, assuming their defense can keep McCown and Co. in check early. McCoy is coming off a huge 151-yard performance against Oakland.
Line: Bills by 3
Pick: Jets, 23-21
