Rail Ranch Elementary in Murrieta was locked down Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 30, while police searched for a person who possibly was armed.
Murrieta police Lt. Tony Conrad said the person was depressed or suicidal. Police had not confirmed as of 2:30 p.m. that he had a weapon.
The school was locked down because it is within the area being searched. There are police officers on campus, and employees and students are safe, Conrad said. The school is west of Los Alamos Hills Sports Park and east of the 215 Freeway.
