Mountain fire prompts request to close northbound 215 Freeway in San Bernardino
A fire near University and the 215 Freeway that has burned 25 acres — and already caused three burn injuries — has prompted a request to close the northbound side of the 215 Freeway, fire officials said.
The Mountain fire was heading south, San Bernardino County Fire’s Eric Sherwin said.
Aside from the request for the freeway closure, the Palm/Kendall and University Street offramps were also closed, according to the San Bernardino Police Department:
Evacuations of homes near Shandin Hills Golf Course were being requested, Sherwin said. He said San Bernardino police would handle the evacuations.
San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan reported on his Twitter account that evacuations were being ordered on Bond Street near Little Mountain.
