Motorist crashes in Jurupa Valley after ignoring traffic stop, authorities say

A vehicle failed to yield to a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy for a traffic enforcement stop and took off before being involved in a crash with another vehicle in Jurupa Valley at about 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, according to Deputy Michael Vasquez, a sheriff’s spokesman.
The Honda Civic driven by Ricky Vertigan, 39, of Jurupa Valley, collided with a Ford Ranger pickup truck at Campbell Street and Granite Hill Drive just north of the 60 Freeway.
The other driver, who was not identified by name, was not hurt.
Vertigan was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. When he is released, he will be booked at a county jail on suspicion of being an ex-felon in possession of a gun, Vasquez said.
It was not known if alcohol or drugs played a roll in the collision.
