Menifee-area man dies in rollover Christmas Eve crash in Orange
A 46-year-old Menifee-area man died Christmas Eve when the car he was driving struck an embankment and and flipped over in Orange.
Police said the accident occurred at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, after the driver of an Audi sedan headed westbound on Santiago Canyon Road lost control of his vehicle. While approaching Jamboree Road, the car struck a raised embankment on the north side of the street and overturned.
“We believe speed to be a factor in the collision,” Orange police Sgt. Phil McMullin said.
McMullin said police don’t know whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. Orange police’s accident investigation team was on scene Sunday night to determine the cause of the crash.
The deceased man was from Romoland, a community north of Menifee in Riverside County. Police have not released his name, pending notification of his next of kin.
