Authorities have released the name of a 79-year-old man who was struck and killed by a train Saturday in Cabazon.
Local resident Angel Fuentes was pronounced dead at 5:54 p.m. — minutes after the crash occurred — on the railroad tracks about 60 feet east from the intersection of Broadway and Main streets, according to a Riverside County Coroner’s Office news release.
Union Pacific Railroad officials said the victim was crossing the tracks in an area that wasn’t designated for crossing.
Union Pacific will be investigating the crash.
