A Redlands man called police after he was alerted to a break-in on his property and watched on his phone as someone rummaged through his back yard then relieved himself all while the homeowner’s wife and children slept inside, Redlands police said.

Timothy Christopher Davis, 23, a transient out of Victorville was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of trespassing and an unrelated warrant, according to Carl Baker, spokesman for the city of Redlands. Davis was released later the same day.

The break-in took place around 7 a.m. Friday in the 1000 block of College Avenue when the homeowner received an alert from his video alarm system, Baker said.

“He saw a subject walking in his backyard, and he knew his wife and kids were still asleep inside the residence,” according to a Redlands police statement. “The subject rummaged through the yard and then defecated before leaving.”

No one in the home was harmed.

Police did mange to find the man, later identified as Davis, about an hour later and arrested him.
