Authorities have identified a man killed in a La Quinta crash that injured four others as 28-year-old tatham Crawford of Palm Desert, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s office.

There were reports one of the four injured had died, but Riverside County Sheriff’s officials had not confirmed that information as of Monday morning.

Cal Fire/Riverside County fire officials said the two-vehicle crash was first reported just after 6:30 p.m. in the area of Washington Street and Rancho La Quinta Drive, according to a press release.

Firefighters had to extricate people from both vehicles, officials said.

Paramedics took Crawford to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio where he later died.

The remaining four were taken to area hospitals with injuries ranging from serious to moderate, however, their current conditions were unknown.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.
