Man climbs power pole in Hemet leading to power shut down

Authorities have been trying for several hours to talk a man down from a Hemet power pole early Tuesday morning, police confirmed.

Although authorities would not release much information regarding the situation, the Hemet Police department did release a statement on social media warning people the area around Sanderson and Devonshire avenues were shut down and that the electricity had been turned off in the area.

A photo uploaded to a Hemet community Facebook group shows a man, dressed in dark clothing, clinging to the T-bars of the power pole.

Hemet Police say they are trying to coax a man down from a power pole at Sanderson and Devonshire avenues.

According to the Southern California Edison outage map, it shows the power was turned off to the police around 2:30 a.m.
