A Redlands man arrested last month for hiding a camera in a foreign exchange student’s bedroom had previously worked for the Redlands Unified School District.

District officials confirmed by email Robert Kenneth Christensen, 54, was a substitute teacher for RUSD in 2014.

“He has not worked in our district since,” said Bernie Cavanagh, the district’s assistant superintendent of business services.

Authorities arrested Christensen on Oct. 23 at his home in the 1200 block of San Pablo Avenue after the teen student, a girl, reportedly found the camera in the room and told a school counselor about it.

The counselor reported the incident to police and an investigation led to Christensen’s arrest. The girl was also removed from the home by Children’s Protective Services.

Christensen was cited and later released.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Redlands Police Department at 909-798-7681.
