Man accused of taking Salvation Army bell-ringer’s purse in Corona

A women collecting money for the Salvation Army was robbed outside a Vons market in Corona, police said.

The incident took place Tuesday evening outside of the store on McKinley Street.

An unknown male is accused of taking the woman’s purse, which was near where she was seeking donations, Corona police Sgt. Chad Fountain said. The woman chased after him, caught him and there was a struggle, but he got away.

Fountain reported the loss at $1,000.

No other information was available.
