Major-injury crash closes Temecula intersection
By Gail Wesson
A major injury three-vehicle crash shut down streets near Butterfield Stage Road and Calle Chapos in Temecula Sunday evening, Oct. 8, according to Deputy Mike Vasquez, Riverside County Sheriff’s spokesman.
The collision was reported at 7:20 p.m. near the intersection.
An Infiniti collided with an Audi, which then collided with a Chrysler PT Cruiser, Vasquez said.
Two occupants of the Infiniti were transported to a hospital. The driver of the Chrysler was ejected from the vehicle and also taken to a hospital with major injuries. The five occupants of the Audi did not require hospitalization.
The traffic incident investigation is continuing into the night. Calle Chapos is closed from Walcott Lane to Butterfield Stage, and Butterfield Stage is closed from that point north to Murrieta Hot Springs Road.
The scene is at almost a dividing line between urbanized Temecula housing tracts and an undeveloped rural area to the east.
