Luanne Weaver, beloved principal of Valle Vista Elementary in Rancho Cucamonga, unexpectedly dies
Only a few days before Christmas, Central School District personnel announced Saturday the unexpected death of longtime Valle Vista Elementary School Principal Luanne Weaver.
“It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I tell you that our beloved principal, Ms. Weaver, passed away unexpectedly yesterday,” read a message posted on the Valle Vista Elementary School’s website late Saturday morning from Superintendent Donna Libutti. “Ms. Weaver was a remarkable educator and wonderful person. Her positive attitude and caring ways have touched many students, staff members and families in her more than 30 years in Central School District. This is a devastating loss to all of us who knew and loved her.”
Valle Vista Elementary is at 7727 Valle Vista Drive in the Alta Loma area of Rancho Cucamonga.
The news of Weaver’s death quickly spread on social media, where the parents of former and current students expressed their shock and sorrow.
“I’m heartbroken she was a wonderful woman. My children and I loved her. She was an amazing principal. I have 5 little ones at Valle Vista,” read one post from Facebook user Shannon Ros.
Another woman, identifying herself as Jennifer Wert, wrote, “Oh my goodness this breaks my heart. She was an incredibly kind and loving woman. She truly made a difference in our children’s lives and their families. Praying blessings of comfort to her family her students and friends. She will be missed. I’m so sad.”
The last day of school for the elementary school students was Thursday, according to the school’s website. Weaver died the following day; although details as to how she died were not released.
The Valle Vista PTA also posted a message on its Facebook page about the unexpected death.
