Late-night fire damages Sage residence

A residence sustained $40,000 in damage in a Saturday night fire in Sage south of Hemet, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department news release.

The fire was reported at 11:09 p.m. in the 34500 block of East Benton Road, east of Sage Road.

The first-arriving firefighters reported the 1,500-square-foot home was “well involved with heavy smoke and fire,” according to the news release.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist three adults who were displaced by the fire. No injuries were reported.
