For the first time in 13 years, the zipping of engines and haze of exhaust was back on Main Street as the Lake Elsinore Grand Prix brought part of the race back into downtown. With the wave of the green flag the Harvey Mushman 100 launched from Graham Avenue and Main Street on Saturday, Nov. 11, to the delight of fans.

Lake Elsinore resident Jennifer Venegas said she was glad to see the race back downtown, and all the spectators it brought.

“The race was amazing and action packed all three days of the event,” said Venegas, whose two sons, Jacob, 16, and David, 12, participated. “There were kids and adults of all ages racing, even the Mayor, Bob Magee, participated.”

The iconic off-road motorcycle racing event was held Nov. 10 through 12. The approximately 7-mile cross-country track was also routed over the city’s hills and through its canyons.
